Robin Kimbrough Hayes post-election statement

Candidate for United States Senate Robin Kimbrough Hayes congratulates Marquita Bradshaw on her win, and calls for continued fight for Progressive values and victories for Democrats in upcoming elections

Nashville, TN:   Robin Kimbrough Hayes congratulates and officially endorses the winner of the TN Democratic primary, Marquita Bradshaw, and pledges to support her campaign moving forward to flip the senate seat that will be vacated by Lamar Alexander in November. Citing the historic nature of an African American woman being the Democratic candidate in the general election, Kimbrough Hayes celebrated the #blackgirlmagic that Ms. Bradshaw brings to the race, and encourages her supporters and those of all the Democratic campaigns in this election to continue to work to build the party and to press the issues that matter to Tennessee voters.

She cited her own experience of  going from a trailer park to Emory Law School, and Ms. Bradshaw's work in South Memphis on environmental racism, as examples of how candidates' stories can make candidates uniquely suited to be leaders. Ms. Hayes said she found strength she didn't know she had in this experience, and encouraged others to run for office, giving special note to the camaraderie and support she received as a graduate of the Emerge program that mentors women candidates.

Ms. Kimbrough Hayes also says she and her family will work very hard "so that we can heal and bring together our nation" by working to help Joe Biden and his running mate win the presidency in November. She will continue to build upon her work as a lawyer and advocate for the Justice Reform movement, a woman's right to choose, LGBTQ+ rights, access to resources for violence and sexual assault victims, common sense gun laws, and for access to healthcare for the uninsured through Medicaid expansion for Tennesseans.

In a live stream on Facebook on election night, Ms. Kimbrough Hayes thanked her many supporters, friends and family who donated, endorsed, made phone calls, held signs and otherwise chipped in to help her win a decisive second place, despite having entered the race at a much later date than her opponents. She thanked her employer, Meharry Medical College, the Nashville branch of the NAACP for which she serves as secretary and volunteers legal services, her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Senator Brenda Gilmore, WendyTrice Martin, Representative Johnny Turner, Our Revolution, and so many others.

She will continue to express her #PassionForTennessee on her Instagram and Facebook pages and her website, and she will also continue to have regular streaming conversations to discuss a variety of topics that are important to Tennesseans.
